Knitting, for me, is not some magical intuitive process. With quilting, I can look at a pile of scraps & at least have a sense of where I might end up. With knitting, well, hand me skein and who knows what'll happen. I'm just starting (hell, I've only been knitting 2 1/2 years) to reach a point where I can take a skein and get a sense of the best possible use for it (I should point out that little handicap o' mine does not include sock yarn. Socks I can see.) So sometimes, I end up with something like the scarf in the first picture. It's OK, but I was a little disappointed with it (and more that a little annoyed that I stuck with the damn thing even after it became abundantly clear that it. could. be. better. And fortunately, the reknit was only a few hours long. And I'm infinitely happier with the results.
Ok, I've had a few requests for the pattern. As I told Sara, it's appalling easy and I'm embarrassed I haven't tried it before now:
Cast on. Row 1(RS) knit.
Row 2(WS)knit. Row 3 K1, *yo twice, k1; repeat from * to end. Row 4 knit across, dropping yo loops as you go. After that, just keep repeating til it's long enough or you run out of yarn.
This scarf and the other garter drop stitch froma few posts ago are Artful Yarns (yeah, I know I keep calling it Artyarn. I just picked up a few skeins of that on sale and in a delightfully odd green for meeee and I keep thinking about it)"Reality" 2 skeins on size 11s, 20 stitch cast on (I knit tight when I'm rushing, otherwise'd more likely be an 18 stitch cast on). These'd look cute with tassels but I hate the stuff so I skipped it.
Very snazzy. But how do you do that?
